How to Apply The Scriptures In Your Life

Here are two important questions that we are going to answer in this study:

What are some ways
that you can apply the Scriptures in your life?

Why does one need to apply the Scriptures to their Life?

Repentance needs to be the very first step. Repentance leads into Prayer.

Prayer is a very important part, and it needs to be the first step, so that Yehovah will open your heart, and mind to his word.

Matthew 4:4 But He answering, said, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of Yehovah.’
TS98

The Scriptures is the Supreme Authority in ALL matters of FAITH and CONDUCT!
We are to live by every word that come from Yehovah.

Always stay in connection with Yehovah through constant prayer! This will help guide and strengthen us in making important decisions.

Read, and study the Scriptures, with yourself, and with others.

Is it really necessary to read the Scriptures for a follower of Messiah?
Yes the Scriptures is necessary for a true believer, and true follower of Messiah to read, and the reason is this...

2 Timothy 2:15  Do your utmost to present yourself approved to Elohim, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of Truth.
TS98
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show yourself approved unto Yehovah, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

(KJV)

This is the same reason why followers need to read, and study the Scriptures.

The same can also be said for talking about the Scriptures with seasoned believers, is a great way to get a deeper understanding of the Scriptures.
Iron sharpens Iron
Proverbs 27:17 Iron is sharpened by iron, And a man sharpens the face of his friend.
TS98

It is great to do both, read, and discuss the Scriptures with other likeminded believers.

Here are two main principles that we need to live by:

1 John 2:6 The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.
TS98
We are to walk just as Yeshua walked, and He walked blameless because He followed The heavenly Father's Commandments.

TS98

Revelation 14:12  Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of Yehovah and their faith in Yeshua.

KJV
First principle in this verse is to keep the commandments of Yehovah, and the second principle is to keep the FAITH of Yeshua!

Psalms 119:11 Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
KJV

We are to live by every word of Yehovah by hiding it on our heart / mind so that we have less of a chance to sin against Him,
and we are to do it as an example to others.

Point 1.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness,
TS98

Do the people you are talking with believe in the Scriptures?
If you are talking with someone who out right does not believe in the Scriptures, and wants nothing to do with it.
Clearly you can't work with them, and
you can't teach them anything about the Scriptures, because they do not have the same foundation has you do.
When sharing the Good News keep it simple, and try not to use to many verses unless that person has some background knowledge of The Scriptures.
The reason being is a novice may choke on information overload.
If they have some belief in the Scriptures it becomes easier to reach out to them.

If they reject the Scriptures all together, then you wipe off the dust just as it says in...

Mark 6:11  “And any place that does not receive you or listen to you, when you leave there, shake off the dust under your feet as a witness against them.
Truly, I say to you, it shall be more bearable for Seḏom and Amorah in the day of judgment than for that city!”
TS98

Titus 3:10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second warning,
Titus 3:11 knowing that such a one has been perverted, and sins, being self-condemned.
TS98

Titus 3:10 A man that is an heretic, after the first and second admonition reject;
Titus 3:11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
KJV

So first assess the situation to see if you can apply the Scriptures to a conversation, if some one does believe in the Scriptures, then you have common ground, and if you use the Scriptures correctly then you can show them their errors.
If they do believe in the Scriptures than you can move on to the next point.

Point 2.
How to apply the Scriptures?
One key fact is to commit Scripture to memory

Psalms 119:11 I have treasured up Your word in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
TS98

When we have
committed the Word to memory it makes it easier to live by every word of YAH.

2nd key fact is...

Use the Scripture, and you do that by applying the Scriptures to where you are able.
This is done by tailoring the conversation to what the Scriptures say.

Conclusion
Praying, reading, and studying, and committing The Scriptures to memory. As well as talking to others that have a better understanding of the Scriptures.

When the Word affects our mind/heart, and sole, it then effects our behavior.
Then we start changing for the better. This happens when we live by the Word of Yehovah, and have the Faith in his son Yeshua!

To draw closer to Yehovah. In doing so it increases our faith because we come to trust, and depend of Him. By doing so this it helps us to overcome the trials of life.

James 4:8 Draw near to Elohim and He shall draw near to you. Cleanse hands, sinners. And cleanse the hearts, you double-minded!
TS98

By overcoming the trials of life, with faith in Messiah we obtain Salvation.
Applying The Scriptures is living by them making them a part of your life.
Just like in the...

The Shema
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
“Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: Yehovah our Elohim, Yehovah is one!

Deuteronomy 6:5
“And you shall love Yehovah your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might.

Deuteronomy 6:6
“And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be in your heart,

Deuteronomy 6:7
and you shall impress them upon your children, and shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up,

Deuteronomy 6:8
and shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

Deuteronomy 6:9
“And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
